Photo 16 Aug Went to see this long lost Noel Coward play last night and I’m not convinced that it shouldn’t have remained dormant in obscurity. Where to start? Well it belies the title by being sluggishly paced and shallow. The problem lay in a script that was fundamentally uninteresting, and though I’d envisaged at least being amused by the spectacle of some indoor fireworks and papier mâché boulders being thrown around the stage, the eruption scene went off with more a whimper than a bang. The audience was incredibly restless, from sly texting, to the guy behind me who sighed disapprovingly all through the first act before abandoning it in the interval.
